Battle recap

Bretonnia on fast-forward, no Pegasi but with an extra bonus to charge.

Turns timeline

Turn 1

I decided that in this battle I had to make use of the power of the dragons. So I started by flying the lord forward, which later turned out to be heavy overkill. From shooting I killed two mounted models. Bretonnia didn't go wild either. The no-flying spell was cast and the problem began.

Turn 2

I spent like 15 minutes thinking about what I could do to save the dragon from getting hit by a unit of cavalry with three heroes, re-rolls of everything and above all a lord with a million attacks and an Ogre Blade. The only thing that could save me was sacrificing the light cavalry and an extra move from spells. I got lucky and the opponent didn't dispel the spell, the dragon moved two inches to the side and that was enough so the cavalry from the overrun didn't run into it. Fortunately, Semir rolled a 7 on 3 dice for the overrun anyway :). On the other flank we kept skirmishing around.

Turn 3

Since the goal was to have the dragons fight, both of them flew into the big block of cavalry. The lord hit the side, the mage hit the front and accepted a challenge from the lord, the slayer. The banner that doesn't allow stomps did its job. Even though I hit on 2+ and wounded on 2+, over two turns I killed 4 cavalrymen. The Bretonnian lord with the Ogre Blade returned the favour and only inflicted 2 wounds on the mage. On the other flank I charged the unit of pilgrims with light cavalry and a chariot. That turned out to be a stupid idea, Not only did they kill 4 cavalrymen when they hit back, I also lost the chariot. From missile fire I lost one unit of Sisters.

Turn 4

I flew the other chariot into the middle to support the dragons and it didn't occur to me that I could get charged by 8 archers in skirmish, I stood for one turn and fled in the second. The dragons' combat went on, this time I charged from the front, killed the BSB, inflicted two wounds on the lord. While taking 5 wounds on the mage and passing 4 regeneration saves xD. However, I lost the combat and that was enough. In their turn the Grail Knights charged my chariot, which fled, but Grail Knights running 21 inches eat up a really lot :). At one point a line formed across the middle of the table, starting with the cavalry block fighting the dragon, behind it stood the Grail Knights, behind them the Sisters. And luckily it turned out there was about 6 inches of free space behind the Sisters and the mage fit in. The archers avenged the light cavalry and the chariot and almost wiped out the pilgrims, two wounds were left there. Great battle, lots of chess. Pilgrims definitely rule :)
