Battle recap

It looked bad from the start: the opponent had 5 missile units, shooting and Furies, which in the Grey... kill everything of mine except the dragons.

Turns timeline

Turn 1

Myzu gave me the first turn. My plan for the battle was not to get shot to pieces and to counter with the dragons. I knew that with an army where almost every unit flies, everything would run away from the dragons. I had a quiet hope that with 40 arrows and two fireballs I'd manage to kill 10 Furies and then the Daemon Prince would be exposed. Unfortunately I killed only 4. On the other hand, a very lucky Pillar of Fire came in and dealt two wounds to the wizard on the chariot. That wizard had an unlucky turn, because on his second spell he miscast, which ended the magic phase, very nice of him. The daemons flew up a bit, hiding from the dragons, and the Flamers flew with Steed of Shadow into my deployment zone and then killed 6 Sisters with their little arrows.

Turn 2

I decided the right flank had to be opened up somehow, because if my shooting and magic went like before, I'd be gone soon. So the chariot and the Ellyrians charged the Drones. On the other flank, camping and hiding behind the little wood. I tried to kill 5 Flamers, but they turned out to be too tough for me.... The chariot and the Ellyrians even beat a Drone. I had a clever plan that with an automatic Give Ground the Drone would run into the Pillar of Fire. Unfortunately I didn't know the FAQ and you can't enter the Pillar with Give Ground, and the last Drone survived on one or two wounds. In their turn the Furies charged the cavalry, wiping them out to the last man, and the chariot escaped on its last wound.

Turn 3

The Mage on the dragon finished off the Drone, on the other flank still a tactical retreat. The Lord on the dragon made sure nothing flew in too close, more attempts to shoot the unkillable Flamers, this time I dealt a few wounds. The opponent advances, tries to cast something, but mostly is out of missile range.

4

Turn 4

The healthy chariot could see the pesky Flamers with just a sliver. I charged, took two wounds from Stand and Shoot, and one more in combat without doing anything myself. Reminder: Flamers only have a 5+ ward, T4, 2W. The chariot bounced, the second chariot is camping, the dragons try to do something, the opponent advances, I cast spells. We're kind of sneaking around. The opponent approaches the wood on the other flank.

5

Turn 5

Last turn, nothing special, the dragons try to shoot something with their breath, I hardly kill anything, and in the end I lose the chariot and the Sisters.
