Battle recap

We played with baggage terrain only. So it was a pure shooting-elves slugfest :) I won the first roll and went first, though without much of a plan after seeing the Wood Elf deployment, with the Treekin as a blocker, and the Lord on a stag on the other flank.

Turns timeline

Turn 1

I decided there was no point camping at the back, WE have longer shooting range, and once it comes to combat the Woodsmen will shine. That's why the Griffon deployed with the Woodsmen. The Chariot rushes forward, hoping it survives the shooting by itself, and if it crashes into something it will kill it. With missiles and shooting I get a wound on the Treekin and two Scouts drop. Roman doesn't hold back either, I missed that two Treekin make a marching column, and it comes up an inch from the Chariot. The stag exposes itself to a Griffon charge, with the Wild Riders next to it. The Glade Riders start the shooting game: they go into the forest and fire their arrows, and the champion takes a shot with the artillery die, then they hide behind the forest again, and so on until the end of the game... His shooting went as ambitiously as mine.

Turn 2

The Griffon hits the stag, dealing and losing one wound. Regeneration came in handy, without it I would have lost three wounds on impact. I give ground. The Chariot moves a few inches to the left and partly frees itself from the Treekin, exposing itself to a Wardancers charge. They collect a few missiles and I'm left with 4 of them. The Wild Riders evaporate! So I say it's getting interesting! The Wardancers fail to charge the Chariot and next turn it shoots them down to the last man, the Chariot didn't live to see it, it fell to the archers. The Treekin march towards the Sisters. The big finale of the evening continues, the generals beat each other up and it's a draw.

Turn 3

Shoots down the hounds and Wardancers. The General is left on his last wound, though the Lord stumbled somehow and hit nothing. The Woody elves smelled blood and fired up. The Lord finishes off the Griffon (and that duel went on for a very long time), then charges at full speed into the Woodsmen, who fail the break test and get eaten. The Glade Riders' champion hits with the artillery die and rolls a 10, finishing off the second Woodsmen unit. The Sisters flee from the charging trees.

Turn 4

No point rallying, the Sisters decided they'd be better off behind the map edge, the stag kills the wizard. Another HE vs WE duel and I get my ass kicked again, lesson not learned, but great fun!
