Battle recap

Poznań league, Battle March. Scenario: Meeting Engagement, Two Treasure Troves The opponent went first. Right from the start the first casualties: while taking it out of the box I damaged the hero on the chariot (the general), hence just the base.

Turns timeline

1

Turn 1

Chaos won the roll-off to go first, but decided to play the Bretonnian way and did not move in their turn. The Elf hero flew up the right flank, coming out of the cavalry's line of sight, and the center of the table lined up just behind the edge of the enemy's charge range. On the left the chariot is also outside the ogres' reach. Shooting did nothing.

2

Turn 2

The Dragon Ogres decided it was time to move forward. The cavalry turned to face the hero on the right flank, exposing themselves to a charge from the general and the Dragon Princes in the flank. The Chaos Knights with the hero got the Noble on a Skycutter in the front, and the Dragon Princes and another hero on a chariot in the flank. In that whole combat I dealt TWO wounds; luckily the opponent rolled at a similar level and lost the combat by 1. He fell back and I pursued him.

3

Turn 3

The Chaos general, seeing the Noble on a Skycutter's backside, rode into him and (challenged him to a duel), luckily not entirely like going through butter. I lose the multi-combat: my two chariots and the Dragon Princes vs the knights with the hero and a chariot from behind. The red chariot luckily passes its Break test and only makes a Give Ground, which is impossible at this point, so I block the pursuit of the rest that fell back. In the Elves' turn, the last Dragon Prince stayed in the forest, and two chariots crashed into the knights. The challenge goes on and the chariot riders keep dealing each other wounds. The Chaos chariot falls back, and the rest give ground, which I follow up.

4

Turn 4

The Chaos general again hits my hero from behind, this time with better momentum, and killed him. The Elves deal more wounds to the Chaos cavalry, leaving the standard bearer, and land a second wound on the hero on the Daemonic Mount, glad that I finally killed him (over the previous turns one of the Chaos gods was watching over him the whole time, saving him from wounds), and then surprise, the guy has 4 wounds! I win the combat, the standard bearer and the hero fall back, the chariot rider was removed from combat and held back from overrunning, I did not chase the cavalry. In my turn, hoping I would not inflict the last wound on myself in dangerous terrain, I charge the standard bearer with the hero. Luck smiled on me: not only did I not kill myself, the impact hits wiped out the cavalrymen. With the bows I finish off the chariot.

Turn 5

Either I missed something, or we did not play one turn that would not have changed much anyway. Cool battle, lots of combat. Once again I'm amazed at how tough the miracle cavalry can be compared to the Dragon Princes, who have a better save and still drop like flies.
