Before you lies the tournament rules pack for the Warhammer: The Old World tournament The Renegade Tribes being organized by Tabletop Kingdom in Sassenheim on the 21st of June 2025.
As you might know if you participated in A Socialist Iron Fist of Steel and Regulated Fun I and/or Veil.Surge.Secrets, this tournament has a heavy emphasis on casual fun and sportsmanship. Please take this into account when creating your army list and during the day. Also, as we are sure you know what this means, we want to help you a little bit by making you re-think the way you build your armies. That’s why we have created a set of extra list building requirements for this tournament, that brings The Old World a bit more back into the 2000’s and stimulates to build an FUN list you like to play. If you are ever unsure whether or not you are considering what is Casual and what belongs in a more competitive setting, you can always reach out to us and we can help you get on your merry way creating a list.

Rules
8 Army Lists, composition and additional rules
- Armies must be comprised of up to 1.500 points
- Armies may be drafted from Forces of Fantasy, Ravening Hordes or Armies of Legends, or any lists in the official Arcane Journals.
- The so-called “Renegades (Square Based)” comp pack (available on New Recruit and Old World Building) is applicable for all Legacy Armies. You can download the rules pack for this on https://www.squarebased.com/
- No mercenaries or allies allowed.
- You can field a maximum one large target (this includes a character riding a large target).
- You can field no more than a total of 4 wizard levels. Bound spells and abilities such as “Arise” are considered to be wizard level 1 for this purpose.
- Maximum casting and dispelling bonus is +2 (this includes all boni including the level of the caster).
- Veil of Fog: all models with a movement value higher than 8 has it’s movement value reduced to 8.
- Maximum unit cost during list creation is 25% (so 375 points). So a unit combined with one or more character can exceed 375 points, yet a character on a monster with magic items cannot exceed 375 points.
- No duplicates in Rare.
- No duplicate monstrous cavalry.
- Max 10 models in the Fighting Rank may make close combat/supporting attacks.
- A model can only have 2 different saving throws.
- You may not select the magic items: the Ruby Ring of Ruin, the Talisman of Protection, or Lore Familiar.
- All characters have 90 degrees Field of Vision (max).
- A vortex that hit a unit which is engaged in close combat will affect both units in that combat, friend and foe.
9 Scoring and titles
- Every game you can score a maximum of 20 tournament victory points. After each battle, tally up the points set in the scenarios and compare them. The difference will determine who won, who lost and how many tournament victory points were scored.
- Sportsmanship points are distributed at the end of the tournament and you have to rate the three games in order of most fun to be had.
- The judges will rate the painting scores of the armies during the break between game 1 and 2.
10 Earning Victory Points (VP)
You earn victory points by riding yourself of the enemy, sending them fleeing, capturing banners and winning scenario's! More specifically:

- Fleeing units: 50% of the unit costs count as victory points
- Units under 25% of their starting strength: 25% of the unit costs count as victory points (incl. Large Targets and ridden creatures)
- Dead or fleeing Banners: 50 victory points each
- Dead or fleeing General: 100 additional victory points
- Dead or fleeing Battle Standard Bearer: 100 additional victory points
- Winning the secondary scenario('s): count the victory points as described under the game's info
11 Calculating your Tournament Points (TP)

12 Grabbing objectives
To win an objective you count all models in a unit that is partially within 6", as long as that unit has a banner (as opposed to counting unit strength).
13 Game's Scenario's
Scenario 1: Face-off!
The generals of opposing forces have spotted each other and are determined to crush the opposition as soon as possible! See map at https://tow.whfb.app/warhammer-battles/break-point
Both players roll off, and the winner places his general in the middle of his deployment zone, as close as possible to the edge opposite the table edge (note the black dots in the above image). The other player places his general exactly the same, but In the other deployment zone. Then, alternate placing units until all units have been deployed. Place scouts and move vanguard units as normal. You may add a unit to your general, but he must be placed in the middle.
Who goes first?
Both players roll off to see who gets the first turn. The player that deployed all his regular units first may a +1 to the dice roll. The player who has the general with the lowest leadership may also add +1, as he’s clearly more rash.
Battle Time:
The battle should take no more than 6 turns. When the 15 minute warning is given, don’t start another turn.
Scenario Special Rule: Not one step back!!
The generals and their units/mount/chariot _must_ end it’s move closer to the enemy general. Once the enemy general is slain, you don’t need to adhere to this rule anymore and you are free to go about as normal.
Who won?
Tally up victory points as described in the rulespack and add the following victory points depending on the heroics and skill of your general:
- If you wounded the enemy general in combat: +100 victory points
- Instead, if you killed the enemy general in combat: +250 victory points
- Instead, if your general killed the enemy general in a dual with your: +500 victory points
- If the enemy general involuntary made a move in any direction not-towards-your-general at any point during the battle (because of a panic or break test for example): +200 victory points.
Scenario 2: Parade of Flags and banners
In these troubled times in the old world, waving your banner extra hard will grant your army the necessary boons to overcome any odds! See map at https://tow.whfb.app/warhammer-battles/meeting-engagement
Deployment:
Prepare the battlefield by placing 3 tokens as shown in the above image: Token A in the center of the board, Token B and C at 15” from Token A, on either sides on the centerline. The tokens represent the Objectives. Then, both players roll off, and the winner places one of their units in either deployment zone. The other player then places one of their units in the other deployment zone. Alternate placing units until all units have been placed. Place scouts and move vanguard units as normal.
Who goes first?
Both players roll off to see who gets the first turn. The player that deployed all his regular units first may a +1 to the dice roll.
Battle Time:
The battle should take no more than 6 turns. When the 15-minute warning is given, don’t start another turn.
Scenario Special Rule: Flags for Victory!
You may claim an objective tokens by touching the marker with a unit that contains a banner of any sort at the end of the movement phase. Once captured, you don’t need to stay in contact with that marker, you have claimed that objective until either the battle ends, or until the unit is destroyed or flees – in which case the objective token is immediately dropped anywhere touching the destroyed or just-about-to-flee unit, decided by the opponent. In that case, anyone can pick up the objective marker under the same conditions as described above (aka with banner, ending it’s movement touching the marker.
Who won?
Tally up victory points as described in the rulespack and add the following victory points depending on how many objective markers you won.
- If a player has control of objective marker “A” at the end of the game +300 points.
- If a player has control of objective marker “B” at the end of the game +150 points.
- If a player has control of objective marker “C” at the end of the game +150 points.
Scenario 3: Disruption
Before arriving at the fields of battle, scouts have been sent out to harass the encroaching enemy as much as possible, attempting to sow discord and delay where possible. See map at https://tow.whfb.app/warhammer-battles/open-battle
Deployment:
Both players roll off, and the winner places one of their units in either deployment zone. The other player then places one of their units in the other deployment zone. Alternate placing units until all units have been placed. Place scouts and move vanguard units as normal. Note that before you perform any vanguard moves, roll on the Disruption table below!
Who goes first?
Both players roll off to see who gets the first turn. The player that deployed all his regular units first may a +1 to the dice roll. If one player has suffered more Disruption effects than the other player, he may add +1 to that dice roll.
Battle Time:
The battle should take no more than 6 turns. When the 15 minute warning is given, don’t start another turn.
Scenario Special Rule: The Disruption Table
After deployment, roll a D6 for every deployed unit. If a 1 is rolled for the deployed unit, again roll a D6, compare to the table below and apply the result to that unit.
- The unit is delayed and enters the table as a unit arriving from reserve. However, when it shows op, your enemy may decide which table edge they will enter the battlefield from.
- The unit is somewhat delayed and enters the table as a unit arriving from reserve. When it arrives, roll a scatter dice, draw a straight line from the pointing arrow to the table edge, and deploy the unit there.
- The unit is harassed by archers. Leave the unit where it is, but roll 10 dice that hit on a 3+ with S3 and a Ap of -1 against that unit.
- The unit is on time, but had to double-time it to get there. Reduce the entire units movement by 1 for the rest of the game.
- The units were lost, hit some bad weather and are quite moody towards the general for letting it get that far. The unit suffers from Impetuous special rule for the rest of the game.
- You are detoured because of enemy troop deployment, but you found a quicker way to the battlefield! Your unit may immediately make a Vanguard move.
Scenario Special Rule: Press the Advantage!
You need to claim the enemy’s lands. This scenario is all about getting your infantry across the table half!
Who won?
Tally up victory points as described in the rulespack and add the following victory points depending on how many infantry units made it into enemy territory.
- If you have more (none-ambushing, none-scouting) models of infantry – that are part of a unit with a banner - across the center line then your opponent (none-ambushing, none-scouting unit): + 100 victory points
- If you have more than twice the number of (none-ambushing, none-scouting) models of infantry – that are part of a unit with a banner - across the center line then your opponent (none-ambushing, none-scouting unit): + 250 victory points
- If you are the only one having an (none-ambushing, none-scouting) infantry model – that is part of a unit with a banner - across the center line: + 500 victory points
