Welcome to the tournament page for Counter Charge VII: Monster Smesh – our upcoming Warhammer: The Old World tournament, proudly hosted by Tabletop Kingdom in Sassenheim on the 4th of July, 2026! This edition we focus on big bad and dangerous. Counter Charge is a specific tournament format that emphasizes casual fun, great games and even better sportsmanship.

-

With that in mind, we’re encouraging everyone to embrace the laid-back vibe; both when building your army list and on the day of the event. To help guide you toward that classic Old World feeling (with a dash of nostalgia from the 2000s), we’ve added a few extra list-building requirements. These are designed to inspire creative, fun-focused armies that are a joy to play and play against.

-

For this tournament we use the Counter Charge Monster Smesh rules, where players field their army, which is formed around a brutal, centrepiece Monster! This Monster has a special role in the army, it is revered as an ancient living totem, a personification of the army's deity, of the dreaded nightmare from the army's dreams that luckily fights on their side of the battle. Usually. Monster Smesh is designed to have fun with an old skool Warhammer army with the addition of a big bad boi that has a special role during the battles. To make sure all Armies can field a cool Monster, we added/ tweaked Monsters for Dwarfen Mountain Holds, Chaos Dwarfs, High Elves, Dark Elves, Kingdom of Bretonnia, The Empire of Man, Warriors of Chaos and Wood Elf Realms.
